Engagement Formats

Three Ways to Work with Pylon Index

Each engagement format is scoped separately, priced clearly, and designed to stand on its own. No minimum terms, no bundled services you did not request.

Methodology

How the Analytical Work Operates

All engagements begin from data provided by the buyer — exported from your matter-management, billing, or legal spend systems. We do not require direct system access and do not connect to your infrastructure unless that has been separately agreed and documented.

The data is reviewed for structure, completeness, and interpretability before analysis begins. For the Operations Analytics Programme and Single Diagnostic Study, that review is built into the engagement. For buyers who want that assessment as a standalone step, the Data Readiness Review provides it separately.

Deliverables are written documents. Charts are produced to support the written findings, not as the primary output. Each report concludes with a methodology note describing the data period covered, any adjustments made, and the scope of what was and was not analysed.

General Process

01

Scope discussion

We agree in writing what will be analysed, what data is needed, and what the output will contain.

02

Data transfer

Buyer provides agreed data via secure means under the documented transfer protocol.

03

Data review and structuring

We review the data for completeness and flag any issues before beginning the analytical work.

04

Analysis and drafting

Analytical work proceeds; written draft is prepared with supporting charts.

05

Delivery and review

Report delivered. For the Programme, a quarterly review meeting is included.

Engagement 01

Operations Analytics Programme

HKD 7,400 per month

A continuing analytics engagement covering the buyer's legal operations data — matter-cost composition, throughput patterns, vendor-spend distribution, and internal-team utilisation. Includes initial data discovery, dashboard design, monthly written commentary, and a quarterly review meeting.

Operates on data the buyer extracts and shares. We do not connect directly to client systems unless specifically arranged. The engagement runs month to month with the scope reviewed at each quarterly meeting.

What Is Included

Initial data discovery and dashboard design
Monthly written report with charts
Written commentary on findings each month
Quarterly review meeting (video or in-person)
Matter-cost, throughput, and vendor-spend analysis

Month 1 end: First monthly report delivered
Month 3 end: First quarterly review meeting
Ongoing: Monthly reports and quarterly reviews continue

Engagement 02

Single Diagnostic Study

HKD 3,100 per study

A single, scoped analytical study — for example, a matter-cost composition review or a vendor-spend pattern study — using twelve months of historical data shared by the buyer. Output is a written memo with charts and a structured findings section.

Intended for buyers exploring whether continuous analytics would be worth setting up — or for legal operations teams with a specific question they want answered before a budget cycle or vendor review.

What Is Included

Twelve months of historical data analysis
Written memo with structured findings section
Supporting charts with labels and source notes
Open questions section
Methodology note

Single diagnostic study report

Study Timeline

Day 1–3: Scope confirmation and data receipt
Week 1–2: Data review and analysis
Week 2–3: Draft memo preparation
Week 3: Final memo delivered

Engagement 03

Data Readiness Review

HKD 1,050 per engagement

A short engagement reviewing the buyer's existing operational data sources — what is captured, where it lives, how clean it is — and producing a written readiness memo. The memo describes what kinds of analytical questions the current data can and cannot answer, and what light groundwork would extend that scope.

Many analytical engagements are set up without this prior assessment. The Data Readiness Review addresses that gap — it is the most appropriate first step for teams that have not previously put their operational data through a structured analytical exercise.

What Is Included

Review of existing data sources and structure
Assessment of data cleanliness and completeness
Written readiness memo
Description of analytical questions supported vs unsupported
Practical groundwork recommendations

Review Timeline

Day 1: Initial call to understand data environment
Day 2–4: Review of provided data samples or descriptions
Day 5–7: Readiness memo prepared and delivered

Shared Standards

Protocols Applied Across All Engagements

Data Transfer Protocol

All data sharing is governed by a written protocol established before any files are exchanged. The protocol documents what is received, in what format, and how it will be handled.

Confidentiality

Engagement data is used only for the agreed purpose. It is not shared with third parties, benchmarked against external datasets, or retained after the engagement ends without written agreement.

Written Scope Agreement

Each engagement begins with a written scope document agreed by both parties. Work outside that scope is discussed and agreed separately before proceeding.

Stated Limitations

Every report includes a methodology note describing the data period, any adjustments made, and the boundaries of what the analysis addresses. Limitations are stated clearly.

Committed Delivery Schedule

Delivery timelines are confirmed in the scope agreement. Where delays are anticipated, they are communicated in advance rather than after the fact.

Written Outputs Only

Deliverables are written documents — memos and reports — not verbal briefings or slide decks. Written outputs create a record that can be referred to, forwarded, and reviewed over time.
